Sonoma Valley
Tasting Notes:
This Syrah is a classic example of the "Rutherford dust" character that is so easily lost with aggressive winemaking.
Deep ruby/purple in color with initial aromas of sweet berry pie, cassis liqueur and spice. After some air, rich black cherry, cigar box, blackberry and vanilla toast continue to the perfectly rounded mid-palate. Wild berries and black currants intermingle with tea and dusty earth notes to culminate in a beautifully integrated and balanced finish. Once again, this wine continues to impress with its balance and structure.
Vineyards:
The Mulas family owns acreage in Southern Sonoma County on the boundary of the Carneros and Sonoma Valley appellations. This area is famous for producing outstanding Syrah, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. And while the Mulas's still devote a large portion of their land to the dairy business, they now grow Syrah on a portion of their property.
